The Illustrated History of Antiques Book

The Illustrated History of AntiquesBook is near mint condition and is a soft cover. Book contains over 600 wonderful pages of text and pictures.  Book offers over 40 experts to give the authoritative and reliable input on items. General editor Huon Mallalieu. Book contents: Furniture, Carpets and Rugs, Textiles and Costume, Clocks and Watches, Objets D'Art, Scientific Instruments,  Musical Instruments, Silver, Gold, and Jewels, Ceramics, Glass, Coins and Medals, Arms and Armor, Toys, Books, Manuscripts, and maps, Glossary of terms and index. Introduction Reads: Except for the purposes of customs duties for which it is defined as an artifact that is over 100 years old, "antique" is not a precise term, many things are avidly collected which are not antiques and in a more general sense never will be. Around 1800 the English water-colorist Thomas Rowlandson hit this point in a drawing of an auctioneer offering a chamber pot: "What am I to bid for tomorrow's antique?" Well said and this book and definitely helps answer this very question. Great read and fine book to have on the coffee table for guests. Display your more refined side.
