Barber Silver Company tureen in very good condition. Exact date of the piece is unknown. Quite certain piece is Barber Silver, but unsure at this time. Unable to find stampings to indicate Barber Silver. Christies Auction House has not given me estimate on this piece; so, I leave the price open or if any one has
information on this piece, I would greatly appreciate and return favor with discounts or something that can be negotiated. In the year of 1898, Barber Silver Co. was purchased by International Silver Co and was the same year International Silver began using its own trade mark. The kettle part of the tureen is silver plate and has two hardly noticeable
dents in the cover edge (Has to be examined very closely to be seen). The cover lip has four rings of detailing that encompasses the rim for unique detailing. Some scratches on the button handle on top and on the edges of the lid. The lid scratches are small and a good majority of them could be buffed out. Tureen has four feet with conservative detailing, a lid ring, stamping on the bottom with B.S.C.E.P. (see pictures for other stampings), a large opening, serves about 6, height is 6" inches or 15.3 cm. Overall diameter is 10" inches or 25.4 cm. Sterling silver would be the feet and the handles. The entire piece is considered to be in great condition. Buffing was done in great care and slight tarnish was left on the detailing for antiquing. Figure A picture is clickable for better detail and contains was appears to be the following: The first, (reading left to right) is a Gryphon, the next appears to be a crown or maybe a bell, the third is an arm with a hammer maybe over a fleur de lis.
All serious offers will be considered.
